Comprised of adaptive memory foam and HD base support foam
Requires 72 hours for expansion
10 year limited warranty
I’m happy to report that the Nod is actually super comfortable. That adaptive foam that’s exclusive to Tuft & Needle really does an excellent job in providing a high level of firm comfort.
It takes the best features of memory foam and latex to ensure your whole body is cradled while you sleep. However, the specialized design helps reduce sinking, which is a common problem as memory foam ages.
The best of both worlds!
The number one thing when it comes to looking for a bed is how comfortable it is. Fortunately, you’ll have no worries when it comes to getting a restful sleep with this mattress.
High Level of Support
Speaking of an anti-sinking design, it’s clear from the moment you lie on the Nod that it’s truly supportive. The memory foam removes pressure from your hips, back, shoulders, and neck to ensure you don’t wake up with aches and pains.
The adaptive foam layer is there to provide comfort, but the support foam underneath ensures your body is in correct alignment, so you aren’t just sinking into the mattress. That means this mattress will come in handy when recovering from an illness or injury as well.
When your body is supported throughout the night, it results in a much better sleep overall. You’ll wake up less groggy and ready to tackle the day! So, not only will you be cradled to sleep by a cushiony, comfortable mattress, but you’ll be supported throughout the night too!
Let’s be clear though — this is definitely a firm mattress so maybe think twice if you’re after plush comfort.
Memory foam has a notorious reputation for absorbing and holding heat. If you tend to sleep hot, you’re at even greater risk of waking up in a pool of sweat each morning.
The Nod is therefore designed to overcome this issue. The layer of adaptive foam at the top of the mattress does just that: it adapts. This helps you stay comfortable during hot weather or warm, sticky nights.
Paired with the breathable cover, no matter the temperature of your bedroom, the mattress will stay cool and comfortable throughout your sleep.
A cool mattress really helps hot sleepers to stop tossing and turning throughout the night so they wake up less groggy and much more refreshed. You can look forward to that with the Nod.
Great for all Sleep Positions
While some mattresses work better for side sleepers or back sleepers, the Nod is comfortable and supportive no matter the position you like sleeping in.
The bed is firm enough for back and stomach sleepers, but does have some cushion softness that should be enough for side sleepers who need the mattress to conform to their shape for extra support. This is especially great for couples, who may not share a preferred sleeping position, but who don’t want to sleep separately.
This opens up the Nod mattress to a variety of sleepers which is especially great for guest rooms and B&Bs. It won’t be hard for sleepers of all types to get a good night’s sleep on this bed.
No Motion Transfer
If you’ve ever been woken up by your partner getting out of bed, you know how annoying motion transfer can be. That is not a problem with the Nod.
I loved that there is very little motion transfer with this bed. You can place a bowl of cereal on one end of the bed, sit down at the other, and it won’t move or spill.
Of course, you may feel some transfer if you jump on the mattress or your partner is thrashing in their sleep, but otherwise, you won’t be disturbed.
This is perfect for partners who operate on different schedules, you won’t have to worry about being woken up without your alarm.
Affordable Price Tag
It’s hard not to talk about the appealing price tag of the Nod by Tuft and Needle Mattress — it’s one of the big highlights of this bed.
This is a steal for a premium foam bed. Comparable mattresses may cost well over twice that amount — if not thousands of dollars alone.
If you’ve been seeking a memory foam mattress, but couldn’t find room in your budget, this cost-effective price tag is very appealing. The company also gives you a 10-year warranty allowing the money you pay to go so much further.
And if for any reason you need to contact customer service, their service department seems to be nothing but top-notch, responding to questions and concerns efficiently and effectively.

Definitely Quite Firm
I don’t like putting things like ‘soft’ or ‘firm’ into the negatives column of a review as these things are so subjective from person to person, but it’s definitely worth being aware that this is a mattress of a firmer persuasion.
Most sleepers should get on with it no problem at all, but for those of you looking for plush comfort, I’d gently suggest that this might not be the mattress for you.
Lacking Durability for Heavier People
Most sleepers will be pleased with how durable the Nod Mattress is and should be happy with the 10 year warranty that comes with it.
But I think people at the heavier end of the spectrum might need to look for a more specialist support system as this probably isn’t it.
Reading reviews from people that are nearing 300 lbs, it seems as though the mattress starts to lose some of its support resulting in sinking and heat trapping — exactly what this mattress does so well to avoid under lower weights.
Some Off Gaassing
Mattress foam typically arrives with a chemical odor — and there is no way of getting around it. The same can be said for the Nod by Tuft & Needle.
The odor results from the manufacturing and shipping process. Airing it out for a couple of days is the only way to remove it.
T & N advise that this mattress needs 72 hours for expansion, and I’d recommend you leave it in a well-aired room for this time so it can totally shed any odor before it’s time for you to sleep on it.

Product Dimensions: 80 x 60 x 8 inches (for Queen)
Item Weight: 40 lbs
Available in: Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King and California King
Here’s a video showing what the Nod by Tuft and Needle mattress looks like out of the box.
The Nod by Tuft and Needle Mattress is made up of three different layers.
The first layer is three inches of adaptive memory foam. This is what keeps the mattress cool, provides bounce, and ultimately, makes you feel comfortable.
HD Base Support Foam
The next layer is five inches of high-density, base support memory foam. This does exactly what it describes: it supports your body, ensures your spine, neck, and hips are in proper alignment, and keeps you from sinking too deeply in the bed. After all, you want a plush cushion, not a deep pit.
The last layer surrounds the first two and is the polyester cover. It’s removable and washable, so if you happen to spill a midnight snack on the bed, there’s no danger of it staining the foam beneath. The cover is thin enough to create airflow and keep the mattress cool, but thick enough to avoid immediately tearing in the wash. That’s all fine and good – but how does it feel? The polyester is soft to the skin, but durable, ensuring it survives all the everyday wear and tear.
Tuft and Needle: The Brand
Tuft and Needle was founded in 2012 by Daehee Park and John-Thomas Marino in Phoenix, Arizona.
The business started after Marino and his wife felt they overpaid for a mattress. He then got together with Park and decided to start an e-commerce mattress company, making quality products for lower prices.
In September of 2018, Tuft and Needle merged with the mattress giant, Serta Simmons Bedding. In November of 2018, they introduced their partnership with Amazon to make the Nod mattress.
Besides mattresses, the company also makes bedding, bed frames, and seating.
If you’re a fan of firmer mattresses and crave high levels of comfort and support at a reasonable price, I think you’ll love the Nod by Tuft and Needle Mattress.
It’s got a huge amount going for it including bounce, breathability, versatility for all sleep positions and no motion transfer, regardless of how often your partner goes to the bathroom in the night!
I’ve taken points off because I think the durability of this otherwise great cheap mattress will be compromised under very heavy individuals, plus it needs some good time to dissipate its initial chemical odors.
