FLIP by Nest Bedding Rated
HTS Verdict
An impressive hybrid mattress given the affordable price tag, the Flip is seriously comfortable and supportive. And as you can flip the sides (see what they did there…) between firm and medium, it’s bound to suit most types of sleepers.
It’s not perfect — future sinking may appear under a lot of weight and I really wish the cover was removable. But generally speaking it’s a great mattress at a great price.
Pros

- Sleeps cool

The FLIP by Nest Bedding Mattress (available on Amazon) is a double sided hybrid mattress available for a really good price.
Much like the Nod by Tuft & Needle mattress, the FLIP is an Amazon exclusive product that’s backed by the pedigree of Nest. Essentially, that means it’s a cheaper alternative to the luxury Nest line of mattresses — now that’s something I can get behind!
I’m going to get precisely into the pros and cons of this mattress shortly to help you decide if it’s the right product for you and your sleep behavior.
Let’s get straight into it…

The Positives
While comfort is of course subjective, I’m happy to report that the FLIP mattress is absolutely luxurious.
With the cooling Visco gel, the 660 gauge caliber coils, and the memory foam, this bed has something for everyone’s needs.
As a unique feature, if one side isn’t to your liking, you can flip it to the other. No need to purchase a different bed or rely on mattress pads to compensate; this bed can be switched to suit your preference for the night.
This makes the FLIP easily adaptable to a variety of sleeping styles. There’s little chance of your sleep being uncomfortable because you sleep a certain way with this mattress.
The FLIP mattress isn’t just comfortable — it’s supportive too. The support foam and coils ensure your body is cushioned and steadied no matter which side you pick.
The medium side will provide pressure relief, so there’s no danger of waking up with a sore back, neck, hips, or shoulders. The firm side offers even more support with a less plush feel, giving you that extra stability to better align your spine.
There’s also a strong degree of edge support, both in the firm and medium sides of the mattress. Don’t worry about rolling out of the bed or sliding off when you sit down to put on shoes in the morning. It’s steady and secure.
Supportive beds are also great when you’re ill or in recovery. They help in ensuring you stay completely supported and rested so you’ll be back on your feet quicker!
One of the best and most unique qualities of the FLIP mattress is that it features two different firmness levels in one product.
Most coil mattresses can be flipped when one side becomes less supportive, but not many hybrid mattresses give you two options of support.
With the FLIP, one side is medium firmness, so if you like to sleep on a softer mattress, this is for you. The other side is much firmer, so if that’s your preference, they got you covered as well.
This feature also makes this bed great for guest rooms — you’ll never have an uncomfortable guest.
Speaking of this mattress being flippable, I love that with the FLIP mattress it doesn’t matter what position you sleep in; this mattress will support and cushion you in any case.
Since there are two different sides to the mattress with different firmness levels, side, back, and stomach sleepers can have exactly the mattress they need.
Be warned: if you’re a back sleeper and your partner is a side sleeper, you may have to do some compromising. Otherwise, this mattress is good for any and all sleeping positions.
The medium side is great for side sleepers and both sides work for back and stomach sleepers so all it takes to adjust the bed to you is a quick flip.
While the FLIP by Nest Bedding mattress isn’t the cheapest mattress on the market, it’s definitely more affordable than other, similar models.
With gel memory foam and coils, along with the option to flip the mattress depending on your firmness preferences, I’d expect this mattress to be near $1,000.
Luckily, it’s priced at barely half that. Breaking the bank isn’t a necessity to enjoy a great, customized night’s sleep.
This price-tag means you might even be able to purchase a couple of these for your home, so everyone can have a quality night’s sleep.
A company that has a warranty shows that they not only back their product but care about their customers too! To make the decision and buying process easy, Nest Bedding gives customers thirty days to try out the mattress to find out if it’s right for them.
Five minutes isn’t really enough to get a good feel of a new mattress, but thirty days gives you the freedom to really test it out and make sure it’s a fit for your life.
If after the trial you find out this mattress isn’t for you, the return process is super easy too! Since their beds are available through Amazon, Nest Bedding utilizes Amazon’s easy customer return process.
And since Nest believes in giving back instead of filling landfills with unwanted mattresses, they allow bed donations to a friend, family or organization as a return. Just hang on to a donation receipt.
After that, you’ll have a 10-year limited warranty protecting you against any manufacturing errors. Should the mattress have issues out of your control, simply contact the company for a refund.

The Negatives
At around 90 lbs for the Queen size, the FLIP mattress is a bit of a beast. I definitely struggled getting it up the stairs on my own.
The King and California King will be even heavier. When setting it up, you’ll definitely need some help. If you live alone, maybe get a friend or a neighbor to help you put it on your box spring.
This goes for flipping it as well. Figure out which side you like the best before setting it up. Lay it out on one side, lay on it for a couple of minutes, and see how you feel.
If you decide to flip it, you’ll want someone to help. Even if you’re rather strong, the awkward bulk will make it a challenge.
Unfortunately, most memory foam mattresses do come with a chemical odor. The manufacturers have not figured out how to get rid of that yet.
The odor will go away after a couple of hours or, at most, a couple of days, but if you’re particularly sensitive to smells, be sure to keep the windows open while you air it out.
One more important issue to consider before buying the FLIP by Nest is that there’s the possibility of some future sinking at some point.
I should stress that this is pretty much an inevitability with every mattress — it’ll just happen quicker with cheaper mattresses and if you’re a heavier person using it. More pressure over time = more sinking.
Remember that you’ve got the 30 day sleep trial if it doesn’t suit you and a 10 year warranty on your side if you feel like there’s a manufacturing fault.
Having a non-removable cover seems to be a bit of a trope with cheaper mattresses and it’s one of my major bug bears.
Sure, this doesn’t affect the comfort or support levels of the mattress, arguably by far the most important features, but it does make cleaning quite annoying.
It’s much easier to just whip off a cover and throw it in the washing machine if it gets dirty rather than spot cleaning stains and spills. It just seems cleaner to me to be able to fully remove it 🤷🏽♂️

Overall Verdict
While it’s not a perfect mattress, I do recommend the FLIP by Nest Bedding Mattress.
Luxuriously comfortable, highly supportive and offers a choice of firmness that should cater to all sleeping positions — what more could you want?
Well, perhaps a removable cover and a little more longevity when it comes to sinking. But regardless, there’s no doubt that this is an impressive hybrid mattress given its affordable price tag.
And with the 30 day trial and a 10 year warranty, there’s minimal risk in giving it a try.
