Material Composition

The Casper features a pillow-in-pillow design, built to offer better support and comfort. In practice, this translates to an outer pillow you lay on, which is made of longer polyester microfibers.

Then, inside is a secondary pillow, which provides added cushioning through its shorter polyester microfibers.

This is all wrapped up together by a removable cover, which is composed of 100% cotton. It’s also machine-washable, but should not be run through the dryer.

Casper: The Brand

Founded in 2014 by Philip Kim, Neil Parikh, T. Luke Sherwin, Jeff Chapin, Gabe Flateman, and John Anthony Gillis, Casper started off strictly as a mattress company.

They first obtained funding for the company through Kickstarter and went on to gain investors to continue their products, leading up to the release of their first mattress.

The company has since come out with pillows, as well as dog beds, bed frames, and even reading lights.

The Positives

Comfortable

The Casper is plenty comfortable. With the microfiber filling and the pillow-in-pillow design, your head will be cradled rather than simply propped up.

Drying is a similar process that doesn’t take any extra effort. To dry the Casper pillow, use the ‘low heat’ setting of your dryer or – preferably – lay it flat to dry.

Even better, the cover is not the only washable part. The inner pillow can be taken out and cleaned as well. If the Casper starts getting musty or you want to freshen it up in general, throw the inner pillow into the wash and revitalize it.

The Negatives

Needs Regular Fluffing

What’s the biggest complaint about this pillow? It needs to be fluffed regularly. To ensure it supports your head and doesn’t grow flat, fluffing every night – or before day-time naps – will be mandatory.

It’s easy to see how this could become a nuisance. When you’re ready to chill out after a long day, performing maintenance on your pillow isn’t a happy task.

However, if that’s not a deal breaker, this pillow could definitely work for you.

Poor Customer Service

A few testers also had issues with Casper’s customer service. They were either unable to have their problem resolved in a timely manner or the company refused to get back to them at all.

This was a rare issue, however, so their customer service may not be as bad as some testers experienced.

That said, if you purchase through Amazon, you should also be eligible for their stellar customer service as well.

Sizing Limitations

A couple of testers wished there were more sizes available for the Casper Pillow. Currently, on Amazon, you can only buy a Standard size (which is 18 x 26 inches) and a King size (at 18 x 34 inches).

Most brands offer a larger range, and one tester even wanted a pillow greater than a King size. Hopefully, Casper will be unveiling a better variety in the near future.

Overall Verdict

After looking over all the positives and negatives, we do recommend the Casper Pillow, but with a few cautions.

Based on tester feedback, most loved how comfortable, supportive, and cool this pillow was. They were able to go to sleep and stay asleep much easier.

However, constant fluffing is an issue for many. Because of the pillow-in-pillow design, you need to guarantee the inner pillow is positioned to your liking before you lay on it each night. If that is too much of a hassle, this is not a pillow for you.

Otherwise, the Casper Pillow seems to be well made, easy to take care of, and gives you a quality sleeping experience.
