- Good for Bad Backs?
The Purple Pillow isn’t just durable and easy to wash, you’ll be supported by a unique material that’s been used to give you a painless, restful sleep for nights to come.
While those on a budget may find the price to be steep, you’ll have to consider this pillow’s many pros to see if the price-tag is worth it.

It promises to give you excellent neck support no matter your sleeping position while remaining cool throughout the night.
Unfortunately, not everyone speaks fondly of using this pillow. Some users thought it was too expensive, found it hardened with long-term use, and had issues with it smelling of chemicals upon arrival.
However, before you make your final decision, let’s take a more in-depth look at the Purple Pillow.

The cover is made of 55% polyester, 37% viscose from bamboo, and 8% spandex. This mix is designed to keep you cool and comfortable while lying on the pillow. The cover is also removable and washable.
Purple Pillow: The Brand
“Purple,” as a company, was founded in 2015 when brothers Tony and Terry Pearce invented the hyper-elastic polymer their merchandise is known for.
They were seeking a way to utilize this material in mattresses and pillows, which led them to create the brand.
Based in Alpine, Utah, they designed the Purple Pillow in 2016, beginning with a Kickstarter campaign for financial support.

Stand Out Features
- Sleeps Cool: Warm sleepers and those in warm environments know how frustrating a hot night can be for bedtime. The Purple Pillow allows air to move a little more freely, meaning you won’t need to frustratingly flip for the cool side of the pillow.
- Good-bye Sniffles: Purple advertises their pillow as ‘antimicrobial’ which protects against allergens and dust-mites allowing allergy sufferers to sleep easier. A sleep with less sniffles makes for a sound rest, and a happier morning.
- Easily Washable: The Purple Pillow’s removable cover makes it easy to keep your pillow clean without much effort. Simply toss it in your washer if it gets too dirty, and the pillow gets clean with just some mild soap!
The Purple Pillow is designed to give support while easing the amount of pressure on the pillow itself.
It’s made from hundreds of tiny triangles, which help the pillow relax when you press your head down, while still supporting and conforming to you. The edges of the pillow are also reinforced to give your neck extra comfort.
Users appreciate how it cradles their head, gently supports their spine and puts their neck into alignment. If you’ve noticed yourself waking up with neck or back pain, this pillow may just be the solution to what ails you.
Great for Your Neck
On that topic, several users noted how great the Purple Pillow worked for their neck. The reinforced edges provide your neck with extra comfort all night, ensuring you don’t wake up with aches and pains.
The pillow was made to be thin especially for spinal alignment, so if your neck is a problem you can’t seem to fix, this might be the ideal solution.
No Need to Fluff
Who hates fluffing their pillows every night? Luckily, the Purple Pillow will retain its original form without your needing to practice any punching skills.
Quite a few users mentioned how the pillow didn’t lose its shape and, in turn, didn’t cause them to wake up sore after tossing and turning all night long.
This is also one way this pillow manages to stay durable and long-lasting.
Whether or not you live in a warm climate, there are always some nights that are extremely hot. Many pillows have a tendency to retain heat, especially over time, but you don’t have to worry about that with the Purple Pillow.
There are breathable channels inside that expel this additional heat for a cooler experience. The cover is also made of light materials to keep your face and neck cool.
Several users noted that sleeping on their back, sides, or stomach didn’t matter; they were comfortable and supported in every position.
The pillow will adjust itself to your form and provide the right amount of pressure-relief no matter how you rest.
Back-sleepers will enjoy the soft middle of the pillow, side-sleepers will prefer the firmer edges, and stomach-sleepers will like all of the above.
Good for Anyone with Allergies
This pillow is hypoallergenic and antimicrobial. It’s made with no germicides, and the materials are protected against allergens and dust mites.
Those suffering from allergies, or find it difficult to sleep due to sniffles and sneezes will find solace in this pillow.
Purple Pillow’s patented hyper-elastic polymer is FDA-certified and certified by the CertiPUR-US program, meaning all the materials are safe.
The CertiPUR-US certificate is given to products that have undergone serious testing to ensure formaldehyde, mercury, and other harmful materials aren’t present within the product.
You can rest assured you and your loved ones will be sleeping soundly.
Good Customer Service
Customer service is highly important, and Purple lives up to the hype. Our testers found them to be very responsive to questions, and some users even were offered entirely new pillows when an issue arose.
Purple has your back with a 1-year warranty protecting you against any faults that you may find in your pillow due to manufacturing. Should this happen, you’ll simply need to contact Purple and they’ll replace your pillow at no extra cost.
In addition, Purple offers a 100-night guarantee. If you’re not satisfied with your pillow, Purple promises a full refund.
Cleaning is daunting, especially when there are a ton of special instructions for your bedding. Fortunately, Purple is lightening the load by designing this pillow with a removable cover that’s 100% machine washable.
No lugging your bedding to the drycleaners. All that’s needed is to wash it on “warm,” using the gentle cycle, and with similar colors. You don’t want to turn the cover pink by throwing in your new red sweater!
If you prefer to handwash, that’s fine too! Afterwards, allow it to air dry.
If you get anything on the actual pillow, it is waterproof, so just use some warm water and gentle soap. How easy is that?
Not Supportive Enough
While there were a number of users who found the Purple Pillow to be supportive, that wasn’t the case for everyone.
Some found it became overly dense with time and lost its luxurious ability to relieve pressure points.
Other users found the edges too firm and the center too flat. Should this be your experience, you can always exchange it for a new one.
Some users noted that their pillow lasted a long time and was pretty durable, but others had a different experience.
A couple of testers noted that if you didn’t move the pillow too much and resisted washing it, then it was fine.
If you do fall in love with this pillow, be sure to handle it carefully and with a ton of care if you expect it to last for many nights of sleep to come.
100-Day Trial Not Honored
The Purple Pillow comes with a 100-day trial. If you’re not satisfied, you can return the pillow within 100 days for a full refund.
Some users did not get that refund and were, understandably, upset about that.
Most pillows or mattresses which are shipped arrive with a chemical smell that dissipates. Some users complained that a $100 pillow should not have that issue, but this is actually quite normal for pillows of this nature.
Bedding of this nature usually takes hours to a few days for the smell to completely dissipate, but if smells, in general, tend to bother you, it may be wise to buy your pillow at a store, rather than online.
Almost all of our testers mentioned how the pillow is oddly heavy. At 10 pounds in weight, the Purple Pillow is definitely a lot heavier than most of its kind.
While some may rave about this quality, others may choose to look elsewhere. Whether or not this is an issue will depend on your preferences.
Those looking for a pillow they can travel with may find the Purple Pillow to be cumbersome.
While users who loved this pillow found the price tag to be worth it, those who didn’t feel the cost of this pillow is way too much.
Since an average pillow usually goes from anywhere between $15 and $50, a pillow beyond that can seem pretty unreasonable, even if it does help you sleep.
However, if you can afford it, and you feel that it’s worth the cost, then this cost may be acceptable.
Here’s a video showing what the Purple Pillow looks like out of the box.
After looking over all the positives and negatives, we are recommending the Purple Pillow. It definitely has a lot to offer – it stays cool, it’s versatile, and the brand has excellent customer service.
However, the price and the fact that some users did not find it as comfortable as others are definitely things to consider before purchasing.
Its durability has also come into question, which is an issue Purple should resolve. You don’t want to spend money on a pillow, only to do so again within a year.
Nonetheless, barring these issues, the Purple Pillow should live up to the hype. Great support, better sleep, and a cool night’s rest!
Where to Buy the Purple Pillow
The Purple Pillow is just one example of this brand’s great use of hyper-elastic polymer, showcased throughout their bedding line.
Since the Purple Pillow was backed by Kickstarter and the power of the internet, it’s no surprise that these pillows seem to be solely sold online.
You probably won’t find these in your usual home department stores, but you can kick-start your search by checking out their website.
