In looking for the right mattress, you’ve probably come to realize that “firm” and “comfortable” are rarely in the same sentence; it’s as if it were an oxymoron!
You either come across a mattress that offers support but isn’t comfy, or you come across one that’s plush but doesn’t offer any support. If you’re looking for the ideal blend of firmness and comfort, search no further than the Nectar Sleep Mattress.
Made with five layers of CertiPUR-US certified foam, the Nectar mattress is ideal for those who want a cool night’s sleep while getting the support their body needs.
It doesn’t cause you to “sink” like most memory foam mattresses, but what it lacks in plushness, it makes up for in comfort.

The Nectar mattress also comes in these configurations: Twin, Twin XL, Full, King, and California King.
Each layer of the Nectar Mattress is constructed with memory foam to ensure a relaxing feel, but each layer also fulfills a distinct purpose.
Tencel Cooling Cover
The first layer is the cover, made with Tencel cooling technology. Tencel is derived from eucalyptus, making it highly breathable.
This cover is quilted and designed to draw heat away (also called heat wicking) from your body and circulate fresh air every time you move.
It’s OEKO-TEX safe meaning its perfectly okay for babies and small children to lay on.
As an added bonus, the cover is also removable for easy washing.
Quilted Gel Memory Foam
The second layer is a fully quilted gel memory foam layer that provides extra comfort, loft, and breathability.
This section contours to the shape of your body and contributes to the luxurious softness of the upper layer of the mattress.
Gel Memory Foam
Premium, medical grade memory foam makes up the third layer of this mattress.
It assists in weight distribution and pressure relief, while its semi-open lush foam helps redistribute heat.
Basically, this layer is made with materials that help to move heat away from you while you sleep.
It converts back to its untouched state once you remove your body weight, so every time you get out of bed, it will look and feel as the day you first got it.
Adaptive Hi-Core Memory Foam
This inner fourth layer serves to contour to the pressure points of your body.
Because of its heavy weight, Hi-Core memory foam is hard to ship.
While this deters other companies, Nectar uses this to their advantage as no other direct-to-consumer mattress has this foam.
Breathing Base Layer
The base layer is dense yet breathable, drawing fresh air through specialized channels.
It’s the densest, most breathable material on the market and the main reason why Nectar backs their mattresses with a forever warranty.
Nectar: The Brand
Nectar is a 100% employee-owned company that has been in business for a little over 15 years.
For that span of time, they’ve developed thousands of memory foam mattresses with the goal of “building the most comfortable bed possible.”
This brand’s business model is to cut out the middleman and send mattresses straight from the factory to the homes of consumers, making their products cheaper without sacrificing quality.
Nectar Sleep Mattress Review
- Free Shipping: Always a welcomed bonus, especially when ordering larger items online. Nectar offers free shipping and delivery on all of its products including returns.
- Extended Trial Period & Warranty: While a lot of online mattress retailers offer a trial period to test out your new mattress, Nectar goes above and beyond by extending that trial period to a full year. As for the warranty, it literally lasts forever.
- Bug Resistant: We wish all furniture was bug resistant! No need to worry if someone in your building or home has brought along the curse of annoying bed bugs. Nectar mattresses are naturally resistant to these pests.
365-Day Trial Period
As far as mattresses go, Nectar offers one of the longest trial periods out there.
Their mattress can be tested out for a full year, and if you aren’t satisfied then, you’re free to return it with a full refund.
The warranty for this mattress lasts so long it’s like it lasts forever…which it does!
More specifically, you can send the mattress in for a full replacement within one to five years if there is a defect. After the fifth year, you can send the mattress in to be repaired.
The bed is designed to not sink, but if it does, you can send it in for repair. If this is impossible, then you get a free replacement.
The warranty also covers the replacement of any cover that gets worn out – just call.
Basically, if you have any issues, contact Nectar and they should be able to handle it.
The good thing about Nectar is that shipping is free, whether you receive the mattress, send the mattress back for a refund, send it back for a replacement, or send it back for repair.
This removes the headache from having to negotiate with post offices or delivery services.
Mattresses come to your door in a duffel-bag like carrier and is compressed which reduces the amount of tugging and lugging you’ll have to do to get it totally set up.
Nectar also offers a “white glove” service where you can request for the set-up of the mattress as well as the removal of your old mattress when your new Nectar mattress arrives.
Here’s a video showing what the Nectar Mattress looks like right out the package:
No Motion Transfer
You don’t want to wake your partner every time you get out of bed, or vice versa.
The Nectar mattress is structured so motion transfer is minimal, ensuring you’ll have a more peaceful night’s sleep.
Memory foam mattresses are notorious for storing heat, and the last thing you want is to be sweating while you sleep. Talk about gross and uncomfortable!
This mattress is created to promote fresh air circulation that keeps the mattress cool even when you move, so there won’t be any more long, sweaty nights on a hot bed.
It Won’t Let the Bedbugs Bite
Bedbugs are pests you don’t want anywhere near your mattress.
They bite you all over and they’re hard to get rid of. Most of the time, you have to throw out your mattress and fumigate the area.
The nectar mattress is both bedbug and dust mite resistant, so you’ll never wake up to small, itchy sores and tiny bugs crawling all over you in the morning – no matter what happens.
Uses Safe and Eco-friendly Materials
We mentioned that the Nectar mattress is certified for safety.
This means that no harmful materials or chemicals were used to make the mattress and is free of formaldehyde, heavy metals or other materials that could be harmful to you or the environment.
Their mattresses use a low volatile organic compound which simply means they’re trying to increase the air quality you have indoors.
They also commit to using more natural products like eucalyptus and aloe which helps fight off the heat and nasty pests.
Nectar’s business model cuts out the middleman and sends their mattresses directly to consumers, which causes prices to drop.
These mattresses are relatively cheap, and even the most expensive ones (the King and California King) are available at a competitive price.
While we mention that Nectar mattresses come in at a competitive price, you still don’t have to cough up a full payment right off the bat.
If your wallet could use a break, but you still need a more comfortable mattress, Nectar offers instantly approved financing options.
Unlike other companies or loans, there are no credit checks required. Nectar also waves the interest as long as you pay for the total of the mattress over the 6 month period.
It’s Not That Soft
Memory foam mattresses are known for being incredibly soft, so much so that it feels as if you’re sinking into a cloud.
While the Nectar mattress is made entirely out of memory foam, that doesn’t mean it’s soft or cloud-like. It’s on the firmer end of the spectrum and is designed more for support than anything.
If you’re looking for the feel of a pillow top mattress, then you’ll have to look somewhere else. This brand isn’t for you.
Though this mattress is great at reducing motion transfer, this also means that it has minimal bounce to it.
Don’t expect to fulfill any whimsical desires on this mattress.
When you let this mattress expand, there is an off-gassing smell that is pretty strong.
If you don’t like that good ol’ new-mattress scent, then it would be best to let it air out for at least two days in an open area.
Customers have had mixed reviews about Nectar’s customer service, and there have been plenty of complaints regarding late mattress shipments, difficult mattress returns, lack of communication, and late (or nonexistent) pillow shipments.
Currently these issues still persist, so we recommend going in with caution if customer service is a deal-breaker for you.
Due to an influx of orders, there is a lot of inventory being backlogged, meaning that you probably won’t receive this mattress within five days.
It will take at least two weeks to have the mattress shipped to you. This can be frustrating, and if patience isn’t in your vocabulary, then this can definitely cause some headaches.
The Nectar Mattress isn’t for everyone, but it’ll make the perfect mattress for the right person.
It’s great for those who want plenty of support and none of the heat of a traditional memory foam mattress, and especially for those who want to avoid paying more for less.
If you’re on the fence, the year long trial makes it easier to make a final decision, though be wary of their customer service.
That’s it for our review on the Nectar Mattress. Tempted to give it a trial?
