Choosing a mattress that’s right for you can feel like being Goldilocks. So much is chalked up to personal preference, so how can you know which is right?
To help you make a great buying decision, today we’re evaluating the LUCID 10-inch Hybrid Mattress. Is it the one for you? Based on tester feedback, not only is it comfortable and supportive, it’s also hypoallergenic and stays cool.
That being said, not everyone had a good experience with this mattress. Some testers disliked the odor it gave off, some wanted a longer sleep trial, and others wished the mattress cover was removable.
But are these deal-breakers? Let’s take a closer look at the LUCID 10-inch Hybrid Mattress and find out.

The LUCID 10-Inch Hybrid Mattress starts with one inch of support foam and moves to 5.5 inches of encased coils, along with another inch of support foam.
These work together to ensure you have the support you need and won’t sink too far into the mattress.
Next is the Aloe Vera transition foam. This helps with comfort and removes some of the odor that memory foam typically gives off.
Finally, there are 1.5 inches of bamboo-charcoal-infused memory foam, which ensures greater comfort and assists in keeping the mattress cool.
This is all topped off with a Lyocell blend cover. The cover is permanent and cannot be removed.
Additionally, around the perimeter of the mattress is five inches of edge support. This ensures you never have to worry about rolling off the mattress.
LUCID: The Brand
Founded in 2010, LUCID is a brand of Linenspa. Linenspa is a division of Malouf, which was founded by Sam and Kacie Malouf in 2003.
Initially shocked by the price of quality sheets, Sam and Kacie decided to start a business of their own to provide affordable, quality bedding and mattresses.
As an offshoot of Malouf, LUCID has the same mission. They may have started off simply as a mattress brand, but have since expanded to selling mattress toppers and adjustable bed frames.
The idea they work towards is to provide all their customers with “a mattress that is made for you” and to make beds that work “for the whole family.”
LUCID 10-inch Hybrid Mattress Review
Stand Out Features
- 10-Year Warranty: Lucid gives customers a long 10-year warranty to protect against any damages that might have occurred in the manufacturing process. You’ll simply need to contact the company where they promise to handle the issue.
- Infused With Natural Ingredients: LUCID uses bamboo charcoal to help protect against allergens while eliminating odors, and they infuse the mattress with aloe vera to help keep your mattress fresh and keep it smelling great.
- Hypoallergenic: If you’re a regular sufferer of the sniffles or are prone to allergic reactions, this mattress won’t be contributing to that. Unlike other memory foam mattresses, this one is hypoallergenic so you won’t have to worry about things like allergens and dust mites.
With high-grade memory foam, transition foam that is infused with Aloe Vera, and the spring coils underneath all that, it’s no wonder so many testers noted how comfortable this LUCID 10-inch Hybrid Mattress is.
With a medium-firm design, it won’t feel like you’re sleeping on a board or like you’ll completely sink into the foam and hit the box spring. It’s right in the middle of the spectrum to ensure that as many users love it as possible.
The comfort of a mattress is one of the most important things when it comes to buying a new bed, and this mattress aims to please a variety of sleepers.
Thanks to the carefully curated materials in this mattress, you’ll be sure to wake up fully rested with fewer aches and pains in the morning.
Speaking of aches and pains, a mattress isn’t worth much if it doesn’t support you. No one wants to wake up with their body feeling like it’s falling apart.
Luckily, the coil springs and memory foam work together to conform to the shape of your body. This ensures your back, neck, and hips are in correct alignment.
LUCID also incorporated support into the edges of the mattress. When you get up in the morning and sit on the edge of your bed to collect your thoughts, you don’t want to roll off. That won’t be a problem here.
There are five inches of extra-firm foam around the perimeter of the mattress, designed to prevent sinking – so you won’t be sliding off.
This is also perfect for those who share the bed with a spread-eagle sleeper; resting near the edges won’t be uncomfortable.
Good for Allergies
Some memory foam designs are especially triggering to those with allergies, depending on the bed’s composition. However, allergy sufferers don’t have to worry about this mattress.
It’s completely hypoallergenic. As such, there’s no danger of waking up with a stuffy nose because of your bed’s material design. You can wake up rested and refreshed.
Whether you get seasonal allergies or are sniffling year round, this mattress will help minimize those annoying conditions.
The bamboo-charcoal-infused memory foam also helps with odors that might trigger those with a sensitivity to smells. Just another way you’ll wake up feeling fully rested.
For those in warm climates or who tend to sleep hot, this bed is for you. Memory foam typically stores heat and struggles to disperse it.
However, the cover and the 1.5-inch bamboo-charcoal-infused design work together to ensure this mattress remains cool.
The cover allows any moisture that builds up to be wicked away, providing temperature regulation. Additionally, the memory foam with the bamboo-charcoal also pulls moisture away from your skin, ensuring you’re kept cool and sweat-free.
No more waking up soaked to the bone because of a hot night. While the mattress will still remain hotter than a fully-spring design, safeguards are built in to reduce the inconvenience.
A company with a warranty in place shows that they have your back should the product you purchase be not as advertised.
These warranties come into action if you notice damages from manufacturing and protect you so you don’t have to foot the entire bill.
With LUCID, you’ll have a 10-year warranty which is great since many companies don’t offer warranties that last this long.
Should you find an issue, you’ll simply need to call up LUCID’s customer service department and they’ll handle it from there.
Keeping up with the current trend of convenience, LUCID compresses and ships your mattress directly to your home so you don’t have to worry about lugging and hauling a full sized mattress to your bedroom.
It’s as simple as taking a box from your door to where you want the mattress to be, unpacking and allowing it to expand.
You’ll want to give your mattress some time to fully expand before sleeping on it though, and if you’re sensitive to that classic memory foam smell, you may need some time to let it air out.
On that note, while this hybrid mattress does use a bamboo-charcoal infusion to help with the odor, a few testers still had issues with the smell.
Memory foam is notorious for its chemical scent, especially when it’s packaged and shipped in the mail.
If you’re particularly sensitive to odors, it’s recommended you go with a more traditional coil spring bed or to purchase one in a brick and mortar store.
The odor has a greater chance to disperse in the latter case. Even still, the smell wasn’t an issue for the majority of testers.
Short Sleep Trial
Most mattress companies offer a 100-day sleep trial, but, unfortunately, that is not the case with this LUCID 10-inch mattress.
They don’t offer a traditional sleep trial, which generally involves their paying for you to ship it back, no questions asked.
They do offer a 10-year warranty, but that requires you to maintain your receipt and take pictures of whatever the issue is. A few testers wondered why this was the case.
Cover Not Removable
While testers were overall pleased, one major negative persisted throughout. The cover is not removable and, therefore, cannot be easily cleaned.
As such, testers were frustrated with the design. You will have to spot clean the mattress cover if anything gets on it.
Most beds currently on the market have a removable cover, because accidents and stains happen. Quite a few testers wished that was the case with this LUCID 10-inch Hybrid Mattress too.
If your heart is set on this mattress, you can always make your own cover but that’s an added step that takes time.
After going through all the positives and negatives, we do recommend the LUCID 10-inch Hybrid Mattress.
A mattress that provides equal parts comfort and support, as well as stay-cool features, is hard to find. However, based on what testers are saying, that is exactly what this mattress offers.
The only real drawback is the cover. While spot cleaning should help with any issues, a removable cover has become a modern necessity for beds. Hopefully, LUCID will take that into account with the models they introduce in the future.
Besides this, the LUCID Hybrid Mattress doesn’t have many bad qualities. If you are in the market for a new bed, this is certainly a product worth checking out.
Where to Buy the LUCID 10-Inch Hybrid Mattress
LUCID along with their parent brands have certainly made a name for themselves in the marketplace as accessible, affordable manufacturers.
But even with their rise in popularity, finding items like the LUCID 10-Inch Hybrid Mattress may still be a hard task both in-store and online.
While it’s usually best to check mattress, bedding and home department stores, you can kick-start your search with the following online retailer.
- Wal Mart (from $585)
And since LUCID is known to sell their mattresses through third-party retailers. The best place you can find these mattresses are on Amazon.
